2011 Fun Has Just Begun

Here is the remainder of 2010 and the begining of 2011 in a nut shell.

2011

Summer Racing: This year Averie gets to take part in the kids fun runs. We have 2-3 more to go this summer.

January: Averie turned 2 Jan 27th. We had a small gathering of family and friends.

Another Jeep for us: This one is green just like her daddy's. At her party her boyfriends were drooling over this.

Neighborhood Night Out

This year for Neighborhood Night Out, Ian got MARV to visit our neighborhood. It was a blast and the kids loved it. They were able to crawl inside and try to carry the entry sheild.

Averie got a view from Inside too.

4th of July

Our lovely neighborhood does a 4th of July parade. This year Averie, Elsie and I marched in the parade. Averie wore a darling 4th of July dress, made by her Grammie, and got to ride in her new wagon. Elsie was quite the trooper, she sported a red and blue stars bandana and did real well with the two drummers leading the parade. Check out our video

Our German Nanny

I have to say now that Elsie is 4 years old; she is one of the best dogs. It only took 2 years of torture to get here but it is worth it. She loves Averie and every morning runs into her room when she awakes. One night after Averie had a routine vaccination she was feeling rather "needy" and did not want me to put her down. Well, I eventually had to in order to get her bedroom ready for bedtime. As soon as I put her down she started to scream; then she was instantly quiet. I immediately thought she had gotten into something she should not have and would be really mad when I took it away from her. To my surprise Elsie was there comforting her. Now if only she could change diapers.

Sledding - This year Averie awoke Christmas morning to find that Santa had left a sled under the tree. She loves her sled and we go sledding around the block to say "Hello" to all the show shovelers.

Averie is 14 months old!

Wow how time goes by when you are having fun. It has occured to me that I have not been keeping up with this blog. In a nut shell Averie is now 14 months old. She is starting to walk but is not brave enough to walk on her own. Her hair is getting longer and I put it in a pony tail to keep it out of her eyes. She looks just like her daddy still and loves her doggies. Last week was Easter and Ian had been gone for two weeks. I was so blessed that my mom came out and stayed with me for a week and my dad then followed. My mom made Averie her Easter dress and she loved rattling the easter eggs. I hope to get those pictures this weekend. Averie was a bumble bee for Halloween

I can't believe I let this go for so long but a lot has happened in the past 7 months.

For starters... 6 days after my 31st birthday, I got some upper GI discomfort. I had it a previous week but still went to the gym and it went away. I figured Baby Stewie was stretching and pushing again my stomach. This time was different, after 2 days of it and not being able to sleep Ian and I checked into Medical Center of the Rockies. At first they thought I had a blood clot in my lungs and I had to have some radioactive scan. When that came back normal they realized I had come down with a condition called H.E.L.L.P.S. Which meant my liver was not working very well, my red blood cells and platelets were depleting. So I was induced into labor that day. Well 12 hours and only dilating 1.5 centimeters later my doctor decided she could not wait for Baby Stewie to be born. My blood work was getting worse and now I needed to have a C-section and unfortunately I had to be intubated; which means poor Ian had to wait in the hall. 15 minutes later Baby Girl Stewie - Averie Paige Stewart - was born. She was 5 pounds 7 ounces and 17.5 inches long. Then it only got worse for Ian; I am still not sure exactly what happened but she was not progressing well. Hours after the surgery we were transfered to Poudre Valley Hospital. There I stayed admitted for 6 more days and stayed another 8 days with Averie in the NICU. When it was all said and done I would not change a thing. It was very difficult to see your baby on a ventilator and with fluid and other lines all over her. But a couple days later the vent came out and each day we hit another major milestone. She came off the oxygen, blood pressure meds, light therapy and then finally the fluid lines came out of her belly button. I am so thankful for all of the nurses who guided Ian and I on this difficult journey. They were right there with any question we had and helped us with changing diapers, feeding, understanding the monitors she was hooked up to and so on. Also the lactation consultants were located in the NICU so twice a day I visited with them and when we finally brought Averie home breastfeeding was a piece of cake.

Now she is 6 months old TODAY and has come so far. She coos, has her 2 front bottom teeth, can find her feet, smiles and laughs.

31 weeks

I forgot to post this during the week of the 22nd.

Last Monday, 12/22/08, I went to the doctor's office for a non-stress test. All weekend the baby barely moved and I had first time pregnancy concerns. Everything turned out to be just fine but I did get a picture of her at 31 weeks. She is holding up her left hand infront of her face.
